Collaboration on the SDGs
Between 2018 and 2022, Massey University co-authored more than 2,400 internationally collaborated papers on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) topics (SciVal data).
These included research with the World Health Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and many Aotearoa New Zealand research institutions, government agencies and corporations.
Topics ranged from protecting species to building sustainable cities, fighting climate change, reducing inequality, ensuring food sustainability, and managing disasters.
On average, more than half, 56 per cent, of our papers were in collaboration with international researchers.

Massey hosts Australasian Sustainability Conference
Massey hosted the Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability conference on The Future of Sustainability in 2022.
Sustainability champions from campus communities across Australasia and the Pacific shared and inspired transformative actions towards a future that is fair, just and equitable for all.
KIWI Challenge partnership
Massey partnered with Education New Zealand on the KIWI Challenge Competition, an annual entrepreneurship competition for Indonesian students. In 2022, Sustainable Business and Entrepreneurship in the Tourism Industry was the challenging theme.
Virtual SDG programme
As part of Massey’s Global Citizen programme, some students undertook a Virtual SDG programme to learn more about the Sustainable Development Goals. Participants worked in global teams and worked on an SDG Challenge Project.
The university was part of the team that won the 2022 challenge. The prize included a certificate for trees, which will be planted in Nepal by Eden Reforestation projects.
