Massey University’s Assistant Vice-Chancellor Māori and Pasifika has been appointed to the Provincial Growth Fund’s Independent Advisory Panel that has been established by the Government to boost investment in the regions.

Dr Charlotte Severne, Tūwharetoa, is one of eight panel members who will help provide independent advice on the $3 billion fund, set-up by the Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones. The primary objective of the fund is to accelerate regional development through increasing the productivity potential of and contributing to more and better-paid jobs in the regions.

The panel, which has already met on three occasions, has been tasked with advising on multiple potential investment decisions. Dr Severne says panel members bring a range of skills to evaluating the projects under consideration.
