Massey University Bachelor of Veterinary Science graduate Dr Andrew Moffatt has been named California’s top veterinarian.

Dr Moffatt was been named the 2017 California Veterinary Medical Association Outstanding Vet of the Year during the association’s annual industry awards, beating almost 10,000 veterinarians. He is the youngest member to receive the award, which has never been awarded to a non-US citizen.

The award recognises Dr Moffatt’s hard work and dedication to his patients, clients and staff alike and rewards his focus on education, training and progressive medicine.

At the ceremony, Dr Moffatt thanked his team and spoke of the importance of teamwork. “From my first day as a new graduate it was clear that RVTs [Registered Veterinary Technicians] were a critical factor in my ability to serve my patients and clients.”

“They were my greatest support. In fact, many of my greatest attributes as a practicing veterinarian were learnt observing the same traits in the many wonderful technicians that I worked alongside,” Dr Moffatt said.

Graduating from Massey University in 2006, Dr Moffatt practiced in the United Kingdom before moving to the United States in 2011. While living in London, he completed an Executive MBA at the world-renowned Cass Business School. He owns five American Animal Hospital Association Accredited veterinary hospitals and is the founder and managing director of the veterinary management company VetnCare.
