Workforce Development Funding for Comprehensive Primary and Community Care

Health New Zealand / Te Whatu Ora is providing funding for postgraduate nursing study to support nurses interested in RN Prescribing and NP pathways who work in the community.

Funding will cover one 30-credit postgraduate nursing course per student, for study in Semester 2, 2024.

This funding does not cover travel, accommodation, textbooks, equipment, meals, or release time. Applicants can work with their employer to access workforce development enablement funding which has been provided at a regional level to support equity of access and to enable the primary and community care workforce to take up these opportunities.

Who can apply?

Registered Nurses employed in the primary and community health workforce (ie employed by PHOs, GP practices, Hauora Māori and Pacific community providers, or aged care providers) are eligible to apply for this funding opportunity.

Massey University Semester 2 nursing courses

Only the courses listed below are eligible for the funding.

  • The courses are each worth 30-credits
  • They can each be completed in one semester
  • Courses are fully taught online (except for 168728 and 168750 which require attendance at on-campus block courses) 

Applicants must be enrolled at Massey studying a:

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Nursing, or
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing, or
  • Master in Nursing
